Joel Brouwer, CPA, CGMA
Interim President and CEO | Chief Financial Officer
Joel Brouwer serves as Interim President and CEO of Hillcrest, bringing more than 25 years of financial and strategic leadership experience to the role. Since joining Hillcrest in 2023 as Chief Financial Officer, Joel has played an important role in strengthening the organization’s financial operations, supporting long-term sustainability and advancing initiatives that enhance the quality of life for Hillcrest residents.
Joel’s path to senior living was shaped by a personal caregiving experience that gave him a deeper understanding of the needs of older adults and their families and inspired him to bring his professional experience to the nonprofit senior living field.
In 2025, Joel was named CFO of the Year in the Small to Midsize Company category at the LA Executive Leadership Awards, recognizing his financial leadership, vision and impact. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).
As Interim President and CEO, Joel works closely with Hillcrest’s Board of Directors and leadership team to provide continuity and ensure the organization remains focused on its mission, financial strength and commitment to residents.
Joel brings a personal commitment to senior living and a deep respect for the residents and team members who make Hillcrest the community it is. He is committed to thoughtful leadership and strong stewardship as Hillcrest continues to move forward.
